Psychoanalytic therapy is an invitation to speak. To speak is in some sense a risk, even a gamble. In the process of speaking to an other, something which causes both suffering and satisfaction can arise: namely, one’s symptom.
Rather than trying to correct or eradicate what is unbearable or, perhaps, has never been spoken about before, my approach aims at listening for the creative know-how and singular solutions already contained within one’s symptom. The other side of speaking about a nightmare or racing thought, can be the articulation and discovery of a desire. And it is this desire that, ultimately, psychoanalytic therapy aims at following.
I am psychoanalyst in-training at Pulsion Institute and currently offering psychoanalytic therapy at Rose Hill. I hold a B.A from Barnard College and am completing my PhD in art history at Princeton. My doctoral work focuses on modern art and its intersection with the African diaspora, as well as feminist theory and praxis.
I invite you to begin the process for yourself, with the promise that the singularity of your speech will be heard.
