Piyali Kundu-Veldhoven, LCSW

Psychotherapist

Piyali Kundu-Veldhoven is a psychotherapist and clinical supervisor working with adults and adolescents at Rose Hill. She is also a psyhoanalysis candidate at Pulsion Institute. She is experienced in working psychodynamically and psychoanalytically with patients suffering from depression, anxiety, grief, loneliness, obsessive-compulsive symptoms, eating disorders, and addictions. In working with adolescents, Piyali maintains a close relationship to caregivers while providing an explorative space for the young person.

Her approach to therapy is to explore the inner drives, motivations, conflicts, and entrenched narratives that may hinder abilities to cope with life’s difficultiess and connect with others. Sessions with her facilitate development of a stronger relationship with oneself, understanding ones patterns and desires to foster self-esteem and acceptance. Piyali has lived abroad and been a "foreigner" for much of her life and is committed to working with patients to process and deepen their own understanding of their feelings of "otherness", especially in times of life transitions from puberty through adulthood, in relationships, career, parenting, and with grief and loss.

Piyali has a Masters of Social Work from Columbia University and Masters in Economics and Policy from Erasmus University, Rotterdam. Prior to becoming a psychotherapist, Piyali was a management consultant and global health professional, working across Europe, the Middle East, and India.
