Lola Guerrero Larrea, LMSW

Psychotherapist

The therapeutic encounter can provide a space in which to express oneself—to feel what you feel, to notice what emerges. Through speech, we can work to tune into our bodies, articulate our desires, cultivate courage as we face our doubts and fears, and shed light on parts of ourselves that appear less clear. As an artist and theatre-maker, I draw parallels between art making and therapy. It is in the act of expression that we may (re)connect with our selves.

Lola works psychodynamically with adults and young people at Rose Hill. She has experience working individually and in groups with young people, adults, and older adults who have experienced acute and complex trauma, social isolation and loneliness, depression, anxiety, difficulties with substance use, and conflicts in relationships and in identity. Lola has a background in experimental physical theatre as a director, writer, and performer, and is particularly interested in integrating the body into talk-therapy. In addition to English, Lola speaks Spanish, and works with patients in both languages. She holds a Master of Social Work from Hunter College’s Silberman School of Social Work and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. She is currently completing her psychoanalytic training at Pulsion: The International Institute of Psychoanalysis and Psychoanalytic Psychosomatics.
