Julia Bainbridge, LMSW
Psychotherapist
Julia is a psychotherapist working with adults, teens, and couples at Rose Hill Psychological Services.
Loneliness is, she believes, at the root of addiction, depression, stress, anxiety, and our struggle to feel that we matter. Through her acclaimed podcast, The Lonely Hour—the show was featured in O, The Oprah Magazine, Psychology Today, Women's Health, Bloomberg, The Washington Post, The Financial Times, BBC, NPR, and more—Julia explored social disconnection and feelings of otherness. Now, using a psychodynamic lens, she conducts similar conversations in private with her clients, helping them to understand why they might feel lost or alone and ultimately to regain a sense of worthiness in their lives.
Julia holds a Master of Social Work degree from Columbia University. In her former career as a journalist, she received the Research Society on Alcoholism's 2021 Media Award and was named one of Food & Wine magazine's 25 first-annual "Game Changers" for being "a pivotal voice in normalizing not drinking alcohol." Her alcohol-free drinks book was named one of the best cookbooks of 2020 by the Los Angeles Times and Wired and Esquire magazines.
